Most people tend to flock to golden hour for "dreamy"-looking portraits, but I've been craving more editorial shoots at blue hour, the period of time directly after the sun dips below the horizon. Bright enough lighting is fleeting once this happens, but on a clear day the light will linger for a while as the colors of the sunset turn from pastels to punchy reds and oranges.

After throwing together a mood board for Trevaun to get an idea of my vision for this blue-hour / concrete photoshoot aesthetic, we agreed to arrive 20 minutes before the time of the official sunset (on a cloudy day, you'll lose light faster so you should bump that arrival time up to an hour pre-sunset). He came to me with some great outfit suggestions that fit the vibe we were going for, including one that had an iridescent look, perfect for a camera flash.
